[Okay, so here's what went down. At some point, Roxas took a bad memory that dovetailed badly with some of the other stuff going on in his head. Ven felt something go really wrong and contacted Dream and the rest of you ASAP. Dream allowed an emergency heart game to take place, giving you all an additional task as a quest:

Everyone will get pens and stickers that they will write on. Each person running will have five stickers that they have to use to try to identify something in the heart. It can be used on people, objects, the air, whatever rolls for you, so, for example, "I am going to put this sticker on Roxas, because he is clearly Roxas" or "This stone must be a stone and not a representation of his deep, weighing sense of guilt".

Guesses can be whatever the character thinks the object is. There is no limit to guesses! The catch is that the sticker will shrivel up if their guess is not correct. They cannot use the sticker again if this happens. If it is correct, then it will remain on the object with no effects whatsoever upon Roxas' heart. (Halfway answers which you might run into get shriveled up but don't come off nor do they reveal the whole message of what they were supposed to be.) If they want to use another sticker on the same object . . . No deal. Likewise, people cannot guess on the same object that someone else has.]

As you enter, you find your emotions diminishing, receding to the back of your mind. Not gone, but nowhere as easy to access as they would normally be. It’s a numb, chilly sort of sensation.

You’re standing on what looks like a stained-glass platform. Pictured on it is Peridot’s Beatrice. Your surroundings are otherwise fairly sparse, the color in them faded to grey and sepia, like something which happened long ago, and has begun to fade, though it has not been forgotten.

There is a straitjacket lying on the ground, and next to it a pair of glasses without lenses in them.

Jagged chains pierce the glass on the side of the platform, hooking into it like burrs. The chains lead off into the distance, toward what looks like another platform - one choked by a smoke-like darkness.

I should be able to, shouldn't I? I've done it before.

"Back in the day, Emerald had this policy of putting damage on ourselves in games where people got hurt or died. I talked everyone into doing it, that time."

Talk to me. What made it so much worse this time?

Lea: Fire, and then darkness. The flash is hazy, like you're looking through fog or fighting to wake up, the grief that follows it knife-stab-sharp in contrast.

Green Knight: feelings of uselessness and disappointing people you care about.

Beatrice: Callousness masking shock, and disgust with your own reaction. And...goats?

Field of keys: Hesitation and guilt, feeling useless again

Mess o' red: A flash of bloody carnage, glass walls and more solid walls closing in on you. Guilt and helplessness cut with grief and shock.

The last picture gives you nothing but static.

"Can't access that one yet," Saix says.

I'll look in the field of keys one. What will open the last?

[going to look at the tallies on the other wall, too]

[Roxas's hands clench briefly] "I'm used to being the one it's okay to hurt. Because I'm connected to shady people. Or because I'm a stranger. I promised myself I'd never do that. But when I should have said we have to pick totally at random, what came out of my mouth was I wanted to protect Coral. So I didn't have any right to press.

"I'm just like them."

""It's already happened." [his arms shift behind his back, struggling instinctively against the bonds]

"Information, I believe. Finding a way to disentangle these matters also would not hurt."

There are a number of words scrawled out side-by-side, with tally marks underneath: Saix, Xemnas, Riku, DiZ, Self. There is one other name, but it’s been scratched out hard enough to obscure the letters. Xemnas and DiZ have question marks underneath as well as tallies. The word ‘self’ has been underlined several times, as though the writer had come to a conclusion.

[Have a flashback. Only you don't see Beatrice's memory. Just Roxas and Beatrice in the 'present.']

[...runs his fingers over all of those, too]

If the keys thing is a mission, what is the mission...?

. . . if you'd said you wanted to be totally impartial just to be fair, when you really wanted to protect Coral, you'd have regretted it too.

[Xemnas: Rage at whoever that is, mixed with a whisper in the back of your mind. "But how is he connected?"
Saix: "Someone who treated her like that... Even if he's Axel's friend, I can't forgive him."
Riku: "I know he was involved. But... he's trying. Resignation and weariness.
DiZ: Irrational hatred of this individual. "But how is he connected?" again. A sense of wanting to blame anything on him, cause you hate him that much.
Crossed out name: "Not her! That is never okay!"
Self: Self-loathing, mixed with a grim resolution.]

What do you mean?

"That's the problem."

[winces back from the self-loathing... returning to Saïx]

Will there be something that I have to do once I get there, or do I just figure it out?

You didn't make the lack of good paths.

"If something looks out of place or harmful, eradicate it."

"No. She did."
